The holiday season is upon us, and there are so many things to do in the Austin area to get in the spirit! One of my favorite things is the Junior League Christmas Affair which is shopping, shopping, and more shopping! Vendors from all over the United States come for 3 days of great shopping where you are sure to find the perfect gift as well as the perfect something for yourself. All proceeds go to various charities in the Austin area so it is a win for everyone!
If you enjoy the lights and who does't, there is the famous Trail of Lights at Zilker Park and you can take a "twirl" under the tree. This event has grown to gigantic proportions over the years so you will want to plan ahead and get your tickets early. Tickets can be purchased online. Across town at the Circuit of Americas, there is another light extravaganza with rides for the kids, and you can even take a lap on the track if you desire. If all this sounds like too many people, take the family to Marble Falls or Johnson City and enjoy the magnificent displays of lights offered by these smaller towns where the pace is a little slower but the lights are just as bright and inviting.
"The Nutcracker," a Christmas tradition, opens at The Long Center in December, and the road show of "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" rolls into Bass Concert Hall into December as well if the performing arts is your thing.
No matter what you choose, it is the most wonderful time of the year as the song says so enjoy: 'Tis the season.
